Lawren Bennett is the founder of Sentinel Canine Consulting and Owner/Head Trainer behind Walking with Walter Dog Training.

With over 15 years of experience in the working and pet dog and working dog world, Lawren is an expert in selection, evaluation, and training. He has developed a reputation as an outstanding handler, trainer, and coach. His work with Sentinel centers on one critical principle: there is no such thing as a “one-size-fits-all” protection dog—only the right dog for the right person, environment, and purpose.

Lawren’s entry into high-level working dogs began more than ten years ago with a working-line Belgian Malinois bred from a police dog program. While the dog was ultimately deemed unsuitable for street deployment, it proved exceptionally well-suited for deterrent-level family protection. That experience became foundational, shaping a career focused not on labels, but on accurate assessment, honest capability, and real-world suitability.

Since then, Lawren has worked extensively as a trainer, evaluator, handler, coach, and consultant, training personal protection dogs, estate and property protection dogs, and training alongside law enforcement and military K9 teams and their handlers. While he does not claim military or law-enforcement service, he brings practical, real-world experience operating in professional working-dog environments. He possesses many of the same competencies required in those settings.

A defining strength of his work is expert problem-solving through evaluation. Whether advising an executive seeking a discreet, reliable protection dog, a family requiring stability and environmental neutrality, or a professional handler needing advanced guidance, his approach begins with understanding risk, context, and constraints—then engineering a solution that prioritizes safety, reliability, and long-term success.

He is a two-time NePoPo® Gold Certified Trainer, reflecting advanced proficiency in modern working-dog systems and a commitment to ongoing education. His professional development includes extensive study under internationally respected leaders in the field of working dogs. At Sentinel Canine Consulting, Lawren maintains uncompromising standards for both dogs and clients. Selection is non-negotiable—health, nerves, sociability, environmental stability, and suitability must be present before training or deployment is ever considered. This disciplined approach results in protection dogs that are trustworthy, stable, and capable of decisive performance when it matters most.
